Four reasons OneLaw’s data migration is the best in the industry

Data migration is often the #1 worry for law firms looking at switching systems.

Your firm relies on your data. You and your clients need to know you can trust the system’s records 100%, and we understand that.

The value of a full data migration is often underestimated. Not only do you need to hold on to your data for statutory requirements, it is also one of your biggest assets when it comes to mining past information on clients and matters.

For this reason, you need to be wary of vendors who offer you anything less than a complete transfer or all historical data.

That’s why we’ve put a lot of time and effort into making sure we can switch all of your data safely, quickly and with minimal catch-up processing. We believe our migration is the best on the market, for these four reasons:

1. A complete migration of your data.

Believe it or not, many practice management software companies do not offer a complete data migration including all historical transactions. With ours, you can trust that all of your data will be switched – meaning you can completely decommission your old system.

2. We leave nothing to chance.

Nervousness, on your part, in a process like this is natural, but our trial run is designed to put you at ease so you can focus on making sure your firm capitalises on the benefits that OneLaw can bring. We perform a trial migration, to make sure everything transfers correctly, before progressing to the final migration a few weeks later.

3. Faulty data is remedied as we switch.

Faulty data is more common that you would expect, particularly in older systems.  This can come about due to hardware issues and other factors such as database activity when firms split or merge. Data testing prior to and during the trial migration identifies all faulty data, and we talk to you about how to remedy this.  The majority can be fixed by us prior to or during the final migration, a few issues may need to be fixed by you in the old system prior. Either way, you can rest assured that the data in OneLaw will be bullet-proof.

4. You will likely be left with just one day of catch-up processing.

Once you’re switched onto OneLaw you can expect just one day of catch-up processing for your business. Others can take days, if not weeks. This means you are up and running very quickly – back to business as usual, only better.

These four reasons combine to make OneLaw’s data migration industry leading (at least, we think so!). It’s something we pride ourselves on, and our clients notice the difference.

Sheree Bennet from BlackmanSpargo said the transition to OneLaw was great: “The data transfer went smoothly with no problems, I couldn’t have asked for more.”

Kelvin Glenn from Clark Boyce agreed: “Moving to OneLaw was the simplest thing this practice has ever done.”

So the big question you have on your mind now might be this: Can we migrate the data from your old system?

In most cases the answer is yes: We have migrated from almost all competing systems, and if your system isn’t on the list yet we’ll add it for you. We also have the capability of migrating from generic CSV format, so if data from your old system can be exported to this format, you’re already good to go.
